Star Battle

Place the stars: one per line, none touching.

Preparing today's puzzle…

How to play Star Battle

  1. Place stars so that every row, every column and every thick-lined region holds the same number of stars: one on the easy and medium grids, two on the hard one.
  2. Two stars never touch, not even at a corner. So every star empties the eight squares around it.
  3. Tap a square once for a star, again for a dot (your note that no star goes there), again to clear it. Dots are free: use them generously.
  4. Start with the smallest regions and with the rows where the free squares are few. When you select a square, its region and its eight neighbours light up, and a line under the grid counts the stars already in its row, column and region.
  5. Check my work marks the stars and dots that are wrong. A hint places one mark: it costs a little XP, never time.
  6. There is a new puzzle every day, the same for everyone: easy from Sunday to Tuesday, medium from Wednesday to Friday, a big two-star grid on Saturday. Every puzzle has one solution, found by logic alone.

Keyboard: arrows to move, Space or Enter to cycle star, dot, empty; S for a star, X for a dot, Backspace to clear, U to undo.
